A message for OC parents
The Orange County Board of Education (OCBE) wants to ensure Orange County parents know about public school options, including charter schools and transfers.
Charter schools
Parents can choose to enroll their child in the charter school of their choice if space is available, regardless of geographical boundaries. Orange County is home to a number of charter schools, which are tuition-free, non-religious and open to any student.
Transfers
Parents can request to transfer their child to another school within their district. To initiate a school transfer within your district, please contact your local board of education.
You may also request an inter-district transfer, allowing your child to attend a school in another district within Orange County. If your local district denies the transfer, you have the option to appeal to the Orange County Board of Education.
District transfer policies are posted on their websites.
