Biographi​cal Information

Tim Shaw was first elected to the Orange County Board of Education in 2020 and was re-elected to another term in March of 2024. He has been a strong advocate for parental rights and educational choice for the students of Orange County.

Trustee Shaw served on the La Habra City Council for over a decade and was Mayor of La Habra in both 2012 and 2018. He served on the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) Board of Directors and was Chairman of the OCTA Board of Directors in 2019. Shaw was La Habra's representative on the Orange County Sanitation District's (OCSD) Board of Directors for 4 years. He is an alumnus of the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) as part of an American delegation to Brazil.

Trustee Shaw works as the Government Affairs Director for the Pacific West Association of REALTORS®. He holds the Realtor Certified Executive (RCE) designation from the National Association of REALTORS®. He has been an adjunct professor of Political Science at Rio Hondo College since 2005. Trustee Shaw's formal education includes:

  • A.S. in Commercial Flight from Mt. San Antonio College
  • B.S. in Aviation Management from Southern Illinois University
  • M.A. in Legislative Affairs from George Washington University
  • Executive Certificates in both Public Leadership and Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School

As a young man Shaw attended elementary school in the Lowell Joint School District, where his children are now students. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout while a student at La Habra High School. He served a two-year Spanish-speaking mission for his church in Chicago, Illinois.

Trustee Shaw is married to Shannon Shaw, who is a special education teacher in La Habra. They are the proud parents of Luke, Matthew, Wes, Jason, Wyatt, and Lincoln.​
